A motorcyclist clocked by State Police aircraft going 130 mph on Interstate 93 in Windham was charged Sunday morning in part of a special traffic enforcement effort that saw 50 violations by several motorists.
Nathan D. Pratte, 19, of Bedford, was charged with reckless driving after a state trooper in the police aircraft saw him traveling at a high rate of speed on I-93 in Derry at 7:01 a.m., State Police said. Pratte was seen weaving in and out of traffic and passing cars on the right before heading into Windham.
Pratte’s top speed was measured at 130 mph after topping 100 mph four times. A trooper stopped Pratte in Windham. Pratte is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on Sept. 19.
Of the 50 violations, 25 drivers were seen traveling at 90 mph or faster, and four operators were observed driving recklessly by speeding more than 100 mph, police said.
Three other motorists face reckless driving charges for traveling more than 100 mph.
The New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit is cracking down on dangerous driving after a spate of deadly crashes across the state this summer — most notably, when 10 people were killed in crashes in just four days this month.
State Police will continue to focus on traffic enforcement and preventing deadly crashes, safety officials said.
