Our Gourmet

We hadn’t planned on visiting Beiruti on Saturday night, but when we got there, it was a blast from the past for Mrs. Gourmet and me.

We came for the General Tso’s Chicken and stayed for the sushi bar on our visit to Portsmouth’s newly opened Eight Square on Lafayette Road.

We were excited to try Buba Kitchen in Concord shortly after it opened last winter, but our visit met with mixed results.

Realizing it had been too long since my dad and I had Chinese food (see our review of Super Wok in Londonderry from Jan. 2), we tossed around a few places we could try in our quest for the best.

As we were out leaf-peeping on a recent Saturday, we were heading south from Milford on Route 13 when we happened upon The Alamo Texas Bar-B-Cue & Tequila Bar in Brookline.

For a restaurant in its second week in business, Muddy River Smokehouse in Newfields was running like a well-oiled machine the night we walked in looking for barbecue.
