Runners of all stripes warmed up to Thanksgiving 5K in Manchester

Delta Dental Stadium wasn't filled with its usual players — baseball — but rather a bunch of colorfully dressed runners on Thanksgiving morning. More than 1,700 people lined up for the annual Thanksgiving 5K, hosted by Millennium Running, Dartmouth Health and the Fisher Cats.
The race began in the stadium, continued in the historical Millard up Canal Street and Down Commercial Street, to loop back to the stadium for post-race refreshments.
Some were bundled in their normal running attire, but many were adorned with turkeys atop their heads, shirts — even tutus. The Wicks family joined a crowd who wore turkey onesies.
Preceding the race was a children’s 250-meter dash on the stadium's warning track, which began with a warm-up led by Dartmouth Health nurse practitioner Kristen Stevens.
Stevens also spoke for Dartmouth Health before the main event, saying the race was “not just for working up an appetite, but celebrating an abundance.”
Cady Hickman sang the national anthem before running the 5K herself, appropriately dressed as a turkey. Hickman has sung for Millennium Running before, and hopes to sing at a half marathon in all 50 states. She’s documenting her journey on social media with the handle “cadysingsandstrides.”
