A Massachusetts motorcyclist died after colliding with a pickup truck in Seabrook Wednesday night, State Police said Thursday.
Killed was Alfred F. Ferrioli, 47, of Salem, authorities said. Ferrioli, the lone rider on the motorcycle, died at a local hospital.
The right southbound lane of Ocean Boulevard was closed for about three hours.
The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. on Ocean Boulevard in the vicinity of Lawrence Street.
Authorities determined that a 1984 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Ferrioli had been traveling south within the left lane of travel on Ocean Boulevard.
Upon approaching a cluster of traffic traveling in the same direction, Ferrioli changed lanes to the right and overtook a vehicle before attempting to reenter the left lane of travel in front of the overtaken vehicle, authorities said.
As Ferrioli attempted to reenter the left lane of travel, the motorcycle struck the right rear of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Daniel Deruntz, 45, of Revere, Mass., police said.
Following brief contact with the pickup truck, Ferrioli lost control with his motorcycle, departing the right side of the road, traveled through a grassy field, and eventually entered the front yard of a home where the motorcycle struck a raised flower bed surrounded by concrete pavers, authorities said.
The impact caused Ferrioli to be thrown from the motorcycle, which came to rest in a nearby field.
The pickup truck sustained minor damage. Deruntz immediately stopped at the scene and contacted 911, according to police.
The pickup driver and passenger were uninjured.
All aspects of the crash remain under further investigation by Trooper Brian Hanna. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Hanna via email at Brian.D.Hanna@DOS.NH.GOV.
